Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of OpenPlaudit software ("the Software") developed by Ram Sundaram ("the Developer"). By purchasing or downloading the Software, you agree to these terms.

1. License

Upon purchase, you receive a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to install and use the Software on devices you own. The source code is available under the Business Source License 1.1 (BSL 1.1), which permits reading, forking, and building from source for personal use but prohibits commercial redistribution of signed application binaries.

You may use the Software for any lawful purpose, including personal and commercial recording and transcription. You are solely responsible for compliance with applicable laws regarding audio recording and consent in your jurisdiction.

The Software processes all data locally on your devices. No personal data, audio, or transcripts are collected, transmitted, or stored by the Developer. See our Privacy Policy for details.

5. Purchases and Refunds

macOS purchases are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited, who acts as the merchant of record. You may request a refund within 30 days of purchase by contacting support. iOS app downloads from the Apple App Store are governed by Apple's refund policies.

6. No Warranty

The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The Developer does not warrant that the Software will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose. Transcription accuracy depends on audio quality, language, and environmental conditions.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Software. Total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the Software.

8. Updates

The Developer may release updates to the Software at their discretion. Major version upgrades may be offered as separate purchases. Minor updates and security fixes are provided free of charge for the purchased major version.

9. Termination

These terms remain in effect for as long as you use the Software. The Developer may terminate your licence if you breach these terms. Upon termination, you must delete all copies of the Software.

10. Changes

The Developer may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated through the Software's website or release notes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Dubai, UAE.
